Art

day332Wow, where do you think I got this idea from?  Pinterest!  I should just rename this blog Pinterest Tried and True! I made this canvas for my mom for her black and white wall.  It was pretty easy to do and I LOVED the results!  So much so that I had trouble wrapping it up for her for Christmas.  I really wanted to keep it for myself!  Let’s hope she likes it, but even if she doesn’t, that’s ok, I’ll take it back for my own wall!

Fast Forward: She loved it!  I knew she would! ;)

Felt Tree

day331Another Pinterest idea!  The kids and I worked on felt ornaments and I made a big felt Christmas tree!  They had so much fun sticking and resticking the ornaments on the tree!   Much better than them doing that with the real tree!  Such an easy and fast craft to work on with them!  It actually held Max’s attention!

Cookie Dough Dip

Chickpea Cookie DoughI saw a recipe on Pinterest today that I wanted to try.  But it was one that I normally would scroll over after I read through the ingredients and realize my picky hubby won’t eat one of the main ingredients.  This happens often!  But I had heard great things about this “Cookie Dough Dip” so I thought I’d give it a shot!  I hid the recipe from Paul and had him go play wiht the kids while I made this.  The number one ingredient, chick peas, is something he won’t consume!  But with sugar, peanut butter, and chocolate chips as top ingredients too, I figured maybe I could pull one over on him.  I mixed it all up and it looked yummy!IMG_2161I got some graham crackers out and called everyone over for some cookie dough.  And I’m happy to report, Paul had no idea there were chick peas in it. He loved it!  It’s definitely a must-try recipe.  Up next, cauliflower mashed potatoes! ;)

Family Tree

day329We went to the Children’s Museum today and Hannah wanted to take part in the art class they offer each weekend.  Today’s project was a family tree.  She loved picking out the ribbon and cutting the yarn for this project. Everything else though, she wanted ME to do.  And this was not easy!  I had to remind myself several times that there were kids around, otherwise my language would have been an issue.  I can’t say it’s pretty, but it’s made with love.

Happy Thanksgiving!

day327All our family stayed up north for Thanksgiving and with 2 kids and one on the way, and little money, we couldn’t make the trek up this year.  So we made the best of it and had our own thanksgiving!  We invited our other orphan neighbors over and we ate together!  It was actually a lot of fun.  It was so yummy! It doesn’t replace family but we had fun getting to know new friends!

Max’s Masterpiece

day326Another uncensored look into our lives.  This is the wall in our breakfast nook area.  This is Max’s artwork.  While I’d rather he made masterpieces on paper, he believes that stifles his creativity.  I’ve used everything to get these hand prints off the wall, nothing works.  Not even Magic Eraser, and that works on everything!  I guess we’re going to have to paint.  Or embrace it.  Each year I can compare hand sizes…*eye roll*

Like New

day325It’s amazing what can happen when you bring out a toy they forgot they even had!  I had taken their Zhu Zhu pets down from the closet and they sat for hours playing with them.  They set up obstacle courses and chased these things around everywhere. Makes me want to put ALL their toys in the closet so I never have to hear “I’m bored” again.  I just take down a toy that they haven’t seen in a while…which they stepped over and around while it was on the floor, and poof: instant entertainment for hours!
